Dr Eslam al-Abadi

Consultant Paediatric Rheumatologist

Dr Al-Abadis has been a consultant paediatric rheumatologist since 2013. He has trained both at Birmingham Children's Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital. Training in the largest and oldest paediatric rheumatology units in the UK has given him experience that spans across the wide spectrum of rare childhood rheumatic conditions. As well as managing children with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis, Dr Al-Abadi is involved in all of our specialist clinics including Juvenile Dermatomyositis, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, Scleroderma, Uveitis and Behcet's disease. 

Dr Al-Abadi is currently the education and research lead for the department and is the principal investigator for many national and international trials that take place in the department. 

As a special interest, Dr Al-Abadi developed a specialist clinic with colleagues from the genetics department for children with unexplained periodic fevers and autoinflammatory conditions. Dr Al-Abadi is interested in using Magnetic Resonance Imaging as an outcome measure in children with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis and Juvenile Dermatomyositis.
