New Chief People Officer to join Trust

We are pleased to announce that Raffaela Goodby will be joining Birmingham Women’s and Children’s as Chief People Officer.

Raffaela is currently Director of People and Organisation Development at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (SWN), an integrated care organisation.

She has been at SWB for five years and as a proud Brummie has spent most of her career in public service, including ten years with Birmingham City Council.

Raffaela, a fellow of Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development who studied at University of Birmingham, is passionate about employee well-being, inclusion, great people management, the public health agenda and organisation development.

She said: “I am delighted to be joining BWC and to take up the new challenge of leading the people agenda in two fantastic specialist hospitals and mental health partnership, and to help deliver the People Plan and Trust vision in the wider Sustainability and Transformation Partnership (STP), especially in my home town.

“I feel privileged to be joining the BWC board and take a lot of learning and knowledge with me from my time at Sandwell and West Birmingham. I look forward to meeting many BWC colleagues and patients and their families when I join the Trust later this year.”

Raffaela will join BWC in October, following the departure of our Chief Officer for Workforce Development Theresa Nelson when she leaves at the end of July.

David Melbourne, Acting Chief Executive, said: “We are very pleased to be welcoming Raffaela to the BWC family in the autumn. She has worked in the NHS for a number of years and within the local public sector for most of her career and will bring her experience and insight to the role.”

“We know at BWC our colleagues are our greatest asset and we look forward to working with Raffaela to continue to support them in all that they do, building on the fantastic work that Theresa has led during her time with the Trust.”
