Staff Governor: Non-Clinical
Having worked at Birmingham Children’s Hospital for 27 years, Karen chose to become a staff governor because she feels she has the skills, energy and motivation to support staff and make sure that they are involved in decisions that affect the Trust.
She has served as a non-clinical Governor for the last three years and enjoys getting to know what is going on in the Trust.
She is currently the Associate Service Director for Forward Thinking Birmingham, the 0-25 mental health parternship led by Birmingham Children’s Hospital. Previous to this, Karen worked as a Play Specialist, Senior Play Specialist and then Head of Specialist Play Services before moving across into general management in the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) team in 2009.
Outside of work, she enjoys running, playing squash and reading, but particularly enjoys spending time with her family.
Karen said: “Being a governor means that I am able to support and be involved in developing our services, as well as influencing the strategic plans/priorities of the hospital.”
