Lynda worked as a local Government Officer for thirty years but is now retired. She has a background in voluntary work and for a number of years was chairman of the British Heart Foundation in Sandwell, where she worked with the Consultant Cardiologist to raise funds to buy equipment for Sandwell Hospital. She has also served as a Justice Of The Peace for 16 years.
Following her grandson’s traumatic birth, he spent time on a neonatal intensive care unit near to his home in Devon. As a result of this, Lynda became acquainted with the Trust when her grandson had to attend the liver and cardiac departments as an outpatient at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
Lynda said: “Being a Public Governor, I believe that I can give something back. I know what it is like to have a child that you love, so sick that they need hospital treatment and I can truly empathise with people that find themselves in that situation.
“I am more than happy to help anyone who has any issues that they want to raise, needs any information or simply has a good idea that they want to put forward. By sharing our thoughts and finding solutions to problems, together we can make this remarkable hospital even better.”
