Marie McGee

Non-Clinical Staff Governor

I am the Transition Care Co-ordinator for the Rare Diabetes Team at Birmingham Woman’s and Children’s Hospital NHS Trust and the National Transition Co-ordinator for Alstrom Syndrome UK. I am one of a few in the UK who has been specifically appointed to develop transitional care for young people with long term health conditions. Working with families I support the development of young people’s knowledge and skills with their healthcare. I interact with education, social care and other community services to provide families with information to make the best, informed choices. I am keen to develop stronger links between the trust, staff and the community it serves. I have a strong advocacy background and will strive to champion the needs of non-clinical staff so that their voices can be heard.
