Birmingham Children's Hospital part of the future of children's research
Birmingham Children's Hospital has been working with the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) as part of an increased focus on specific clinical trials for children’s medicines over the past decade. Since 2009, the number of children taking part in clinical trials per year across the UK has more the doubled.
NIHR has supported this growth through its research infrastructure including the Clinical Research Facility at Birmingham Children's Hospital, which helps make clinical research happen. These facilities provide a dedicated, purpose-built environment where cutting-edge clinical trials can take place.
NIHR has produced a series of films that shine a spotlight on the bright future of children’s research, and highlights how pioneering clinical trials in NIHR Clinical Research Facilities are helping develop new treatments and cures for children with health conditions across the world.
