Safe re-introduction of partners to accompany and visit during maternity journeys begins

Since our world changed a little over 12 months ago our priority has been to offer the very best care whilst ensuring the safety of all our women, babies, families and dedicated staff. It’s been a hugely challenging time and we know that the temporary visiting measures to limit the number at our Women’s Hospital to curb any potential spread of COVID-19 have been difficult. We’ve truly appreciated everyone’s patience and understanding during this time.

We’re pleased that we’re now in a position to pilot a road map that will remove restrictions. This will mean that there will be changes when visiting our different departments, including for all scans, induction of labour, Maternity Triage Assessment Unit, Maternity Day Assessment Unit, Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit, Delivery Suite, Birth Centre and our Postnatal Wards.

Our teams have been working hard for some time to ensure the re-introduction of partners accompanying and visiting is done safely. Additional capacity for testing, in the community and our Trust, along with the changes to the physical spaces and layouts of our wards/departments and how appointments are run means we are now in a position to take steps forward.

If you have an upcoming appointment please do take a few minutes to read through our updated guidelines carefully to ensure you are prepared for your and have done everything needed to make your journey as smooth as possible.
