Nicola works in higher education on skills policy, fixing national skills gaps including those in the health and allied health professions. For 12 years she worked at Aston University as Director of Employability Strategy where she led a local scheme called Graduate Advantage which found jobs in small businesses for 4,000 graduates. In 2016, Nicola received an MBE for services to graduate employability and Higher Education.
She lives with her family in Solihull and is the mum of a sports-mad ten-year-old. Nicola says, “My first experience of the hospital was arriving as the worried parent of a poorly child. Those feelings come back whenever I walk through the doors as a governor. Everyone’s child is precious and deserves the very best of care.”
