Suriyakant Parmar, Domestic Assistant For this year’s National Healthcare Estates and Facilities Day, to highlight some of the roles that colleagues in our Vital Services perform each day, we spoke with members of the Facilities Team at our Children’s Hospital to get an insight into their work.

Meet Suriyakant Parmar, Domestic Facilities Assistant.

What is your job title, team name and role within the team?

I am Suriyakant Parmar, Domestic Facilities Assistant at our Children’s Hospital. I look after the R Block theatre section of the hospital, working on evening shifts.

How would you describe a typical day/ shift?

I come in and have a laugh and a joke with my colleagues before changing into my scrubs. I then prep all of my equipment and start to make my way, cleaning through R Block theatres. I do this every day during the week and on a Sunday, I work all day as a float, working anywhere I am required.

What do you enjoy most about your work?

When I have completed my shift for the day, I know my work has been done to a good standard to help ensure the patient experience. I am proud of what myself and the Facilities team do.

What achievement are you most proud of?

Having the responsibility of looking after such a key area in theatres and not receiving any complaints about the work I do.

Not a lot of people know this but……

In my own time, I love to dress up and go out for nice meals and to parties as I love food and a good dance.
