Professor Pamela Kearns
Professor of Clinical Paediatric Oncology
Professor Kearns looks after children diagnosed with solid cancers and can be seen on the ward and in the outpatient clinic and is the Clinical Lead for the Multi-Disciplinary Team for solid cancers.
She is an investigator in early-phase clinical trials testing new treatments for the treatment of leukaemias and solid cancers. Teaching and mentoring of medical students and junior doctors is an active part of her career. Professor Kearns is Director of the Cancer Research UK Clinical Trials Unit in the School of Cancer Sciences at the University of Birmingham. As the clinical lead for their Children’s Cancer Trials Team, she is responsible for the National portfolio of clinical trials for children with cancer and leukaemia.
Her research is focused on the development of new therapies for refractory childhood acute leukaemias, extending from pre-clinical laboratory-based studies through to early-phase clinical trials.
