Joanne Mason FRCPath

Head of Haemato-oncology West Midlands Regional Genetics Service 

Joanne has worked at the West Midlands Regional Genetics Laboratory for over twenty years. She is particularly interested in chronic myeloid leukaemia, laboratory standardisation and quality issues.

She leads a large team involved in the diagnosis and monitoring of patients with leukaemia and other haematological disorders. This team has recently introduced routine next-generation sequencing using large gene panels for a number of indications. She is currently involved in delivery of the 100,000 Genomes Project and has in the past been a member of the UKNEQAS Specialist Advisory Group for Haematological Malignancies – Molecular Diagnosis.
