Quality Improvement
We are committed to Quality Improvement, which is about identifying opportunities to improve the way we work to benefit patients and colleagues.
We use an improvement methodology based on the PDSA (Plan, Do, Study, Act) cycle. We adapted this approach to create our 4S model (Scope, Shape, Shift, Sustain), which helps teams and individuals to structure their projects to increase their chance of success.
Our Quality Improvement team offer training, advice and support with Quality Improvement projects. There are always many projects, both big and small, happening across different teams and departments. We encourage every staff member to get involved and help make our Trust a better place to work and receive care.
Improvement huddles are an integral part of our approach to Quality Improvement. They are an innovative way of bringing teams together around the huddle board, empowering them to discuss their ideas and make improvements to their workplace that are based around our 5W priorities – Work life, Without harm, Waiting, Waste, With patients.
Our first improvement huddles started in January 2018 and they have continued to drive meaningful engagement with teams throughout the Trust. We have launched more than 100 huddles since then, a significant milestone in our aim of ensuring that Quality Improvement is at the heart of everything we do.
