Our Interventional Radiology Service at the Children’s Hospital offers a comprehensive range of interventional procedures for the children and young people of the West Midlands and beyond.
We treat a variety of conditions such as vascular and lymphatic malformations, portal hypertension and strictures of the oesophagus just to name a few. Our dedicated team provide a specialised service for our patients, using the highest quality equipment and techniques.
Procedures we offer:
- Angiography and angioplasty
- Biopsy of the kidney and liver
- Bleomycin sclerotherapy
- Bronchoscopy/airway intervention
- Drainage or aspiration of fluid
- Embolisation
- Endoscopic removal of kidney stones
- Endovenous laser treatment
- Insertion of a central venous catheter (CVC)
- Insertion of a peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC)
- Insertion of an implantable port
- Linogram studies
- Lymphatic sclerotherapy
- Nephrostomy
- Oesophageal dilatation
- Orbital sclerotherapy
- Removal of a cuffed CVC
- Removal of an implantable port
- Salivary gland injections with botulinum toxin (Botox)
- Tendon sheath injections
- Thrombolysis and thrombectomy
- Venous sclerotherapy.
