Private patients
Private patients/healthcare referrals
BWC NHSFT Private Patients Department can help to facilitate private outpatient consultations and inpatient admissions whether this is funded by healthcare insurance, government/local authority or self-funded.
Patients from overseas and all parts of the UK can be referred to our hospitals as private patients. If you are a member of the public and would like to be referred privately, please be advised that we will require a clinical referral from your GP/Local Practitioner or consultant. We are unable to accept self-referrals.

Private Patient Process
Outpatient Consultation
Please note once a referral has been accepted, arrangements will be made in respect of booking a consultation with the relevant consultant.
Before a consultation can be booked you (patient/family) will be required to complete and sign an Outpatient 'Undertaking to pay' form [doc] 1MB form and return this to the Private Patient Department.
Inpatient Admission
Should an inpatient admission (elective or day case) be accepted an Inpatient 'Undertaking to pay form [doc]' will also need to be completed, signed and returned to the Private Patient Department.
Costs
The total costs of the outpatient consultations will be provided by the Private Patients Manager at the time of enquiry.
In addition to the consultant’s fee and other investigation costs, if a face-to-face consultation takes place there will be a room hire fee of £50 and for a video consultation, a charge of £25 will be applied.
The prices for treatments performed as an inpatient admission (elective or day case) are based on the procedural and diagnosis information. A quotation for inpatient admissions can be provided, however, the actual, final value of treatment cannot be determined until the point of discharge which may result in the cost being higher or lower than the estimation provided.
For further information on costs and invoicing please contact the Private patient department.
