Research and audit

Our department is committed to carrying out high-quality clinical research and we are currently involved in a number of research projects. Recently, our team has ventured into developing a clinical research fellow post which will be supported to obtain a higher research degree.

We were recently been successful in the bid for a Cystic Fibrosis Trust-funded clinical trial co-ordinator through the Clinical Trial Accelerator Programme (CTAP), jointly with the adult Cystic Fibrosis unit at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital. As a department, we’ve also secured funding jointly with Aston University to fund a PhD studentship in microbiology.

Education

There is a wide range of teaching activities within the hospital, both undergraduate and postgraduate. We also participate in the national sleep videoconference meetings and are involved in organising regional and national cystic fibrosis and paediatric respiratory meetings.
