Chris trained at the Trust between 2014-2016 and returned as a Paediatric Emergency Medicine consultant in 2019. He has an MSc in Tropical Medicine and International Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He is now studying for his PhD, focusing on pragmatic research at the University of Warwick. 
 
He is the Site Lead for the Paediatric Emergency Research in the UK and Ireland network, and the Deputy Theme Lead for Infections and Paediatrics for the NIHR. His research focuses on developing neighbourhood health for children and young people (CYP) living in deprivation, new ways of delivering health services for CYP, and point-of-care diagnostics, especially for infectious diseases.

Current Grants

Lead applicant for an NIHR Research for Patient Benefit grant to develop an evaluation toolkit for neighbourhood health (£112k over one year from January 2026). 
Co-applicant on Fairer Futures Fund grant to improve preconception health (£312k over three years). 
Co-applicant on the NIHR HRC Community Health grant (£2.9 million over five years).
