Dr Deepthi Jyothish
Consultant in General Paediatrics, research lead in General Paediatrics. Previous Clinical Trials Scholar, completed April 2025.
Deepthi has worked at the Trust for 20 years as a Consultant in General Paediatrics.
She is Chief Investigator in NIHR-funded studies (National Institute for Health and Care Research). Most recently, she was the co-chief investigator for the £2.5 million OTTER study, which evaluates the use of omeprazole for reflux in babies.
She established a research team in general paediatrics and successfully delivers a variety of clinical studies. She also mentors early career researchers to help them secure grants from national and local health research organisations.
Deepthi started the Birmingham and Solihull (BSOL) Perinatal and Infant Mortality Research Consortium, to address healthcare inequalities and improve outcomes for parents and babies. The consortium has been successful in leading funded studies, including research into pre-conception care and maternal diabetes pathways.
She has also created leads collaborations with Birmingham City University, Birmingham Public Health and the University of Birmingham.
