Girish has worked at the Trust for 21 years as a Consultant in Paediatric Hepatology. He is the Research Lead for the liver unit at BCH. He is working on strengthening relationships with the University of Birmingham, University College London and the University of Wolverhampton.   
 
Girish co-established the Network of Intestinal Failure and Intestinal Transplantation in Europe. He is committed to improving outcomes and quality of life for intestinal transplant patients by educating and empowering the future generation.  
 
He is the Chief Investigator for several research projects, as well as a co-investigator on a study understanding the host immune response within the liver during gene therapy trials.  
His most recent study, the ‘Dirty Nappy Study’ is trialling an AI-based algorithm to detect pale stools, which will improve the patient journey for early diagnosis and treatment of biliary atresia.
