Prasad has worked at the Trust for 10 years as a Consultant in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine. He obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree from Imperial College London. At Birmingham Children's Hospital (BCH), he established a successful Paediatric Respiratory Clinical Research Fellowship programme and supervises MD, MSc, and PhD students in collaboration with the University of Birmingham, Aston University, and Imperial College London.

He leads the Respiratory Research Group and mentors colleagues and allied health professionals in translational research projects focusing on asthma, cystic fibrosis and bronchiectasis. He is the chief investigator for several research projects and a co-applicant on a number of successful NIHR grants.

His most recent study, the Childhood Home Asthma Monitoring Project (CHAMP), trialled a novel table-top device, the Albus Home RD, which monitors key asthma symptoms and physiological signals without requiring the patient to wear or operate any equipment.

As Deputy Director for Research at BCH, Prasad is leading initiatives to strengthen research infrastructure, streamline study set-up and governance processes, research visibility and financial management within the Research and Development department.
