Mr Max Pachl
Consultant Paediatric Surgical Oncologist, Accelerated Trial Scholar, Honorary Senior Clinical Research Fellow. MD/PhD candidate.
Max has worked as a Consultant Surgeon at the Trust for 10 years.
He is a global leader in the use of fluorescence-guided and minimally invasive surgery for paediatric solid tumours.
Max’s research projects include creating a 3D structure of a Wilms tumour and using next-generation sequencing (NGS) with the University of Birmingham. The University of Edinburgh are also developing dyes to help with this project. The aim is to make paediatric surgical oncology easier, better and safer.
Max is also Chief Investigator for many research projects such as the first randomised controlled surgical oncology trial in children. He leads a clinical trial comparing Indocyanine Green against white light surgery. The trial is managed by Cancer Research UK Clinical Trials Unit at the University of Birmingham.
