Spiritual Play
Spiritual Play is an umbrella term to explain intentionally using bespoke and generic play activities in facilitating patients (and sometimes their families) in exploring their spiritual needs. Spiritual Play has values of participation and empowerment, giving agency and choice to the child and taking into account the uniqueness of their health condition, context, interests, age, developmental stage, culture, and characteristics, it seeks to encourage, affirm and help identify the assets they have to draw on.
Some of us have started an online interest group for those interested in Spiritual Play. We meet every few months with members from across the World. Please find below some of the activities shared in previous meetings. Contact me if you'd like an invite to future meetings p.nash@nhs.net
