Entertainment
Our Play team is responsible for the entertainment provided to children and young people while they are in our hospital and there are always fresh activities to keep our patients happy and amused throughout their stay.
Weekly themes
Every week has a new theme and is packed full of activities, events and arts and crafts. It might be Pirate Week when we’ll be making eye patches and telescopes or Disney Week when we’ll be singing along with your favourite movie songs – whatever our theme, our team works hard to ensure that every week of the year is unique and packed with fun.
Special activities
Sometimes we have special activity slots and outside entertainers, and we also organise parties and Christmas pantomimes. We’ve had visits from footballers and ballerinas as well as characters from Star Wars and children’s TV.
Play on the wards
You’ll often find our play specialists out and about on our wards or in outpatients. The team spends a lot of their time making sure that children who can’t get down to the Play and Admissions Centre don’t miss out on the fun and will come to you with lots of fun activities like colouring and games. Occasionally you might also get visits from special guest like the Giggle Docs – a team of hilarious clown doctors, or one of our therapy dogs who call in to put a smile on the faces of our children and young people.
