A final message from Sarah-Jane Marsh, our Chief Executive Officer

Dear colleague.

As I complete my final week as CEO of Birmingham Women’s and Children’s I want to offer a massive thank you to everyone for the most amazing fifteen years.

I can honestly say I have loved every single minute of every single day, working with highly skilled and compassionate people, and seeing the difference you all make to some of the most in need women, children, young people and families in the country.

Of course there have been highs and lows, things I wish I would have done differently, but I have always tried to stay true to my values, our values, and to put you and our patients at the heart of my actions.

I know the future for Birmingham Women’s and Children’s is a bright one. Integrated Care Systems have been created to tackle the inequalities that dominate our communities and we know the best way to do this is to give babies, children and young people the best start in life, and to support women’s health.

I also know you are in good hands with Matt Boazman as Interim CEO, and our Chair Bruce Keogh, who both care deeply about our services, and of course you all.

My leaving afternoons have been very emotional as I faced the reality of saying goodbye. Many people have shared that one job will stay in your heart forever and you always remember yourself as that. Whatever happens next in my career I know that mine will be CEO of Birmingham Women’s and Children’s.

So please accept my final thank you for all you are and all you do. I will be cheering you on from the sidelines always.

With best wishes for a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
