A stress-free way to navigate our services with our Women’s Hospital Way Finder

wayfindingComing into hospital is already stressful enough, without the daunting feeling of being late for your appointment or getting lost amongst the many wards across our Women’s services. Sometimes it may feel as though you need a compass and map to navigate your way to your appointment, which is why our fantastic Patient Experience Team and Interpreters have teamed up with our Clinical Design team; to form a clear and cohesive leaflet, to help you better find where you need to be.

Using a combination of symbols, scripts from popular languages and images, you can navigate your way around our wards and services seamlessly. Script is used to highlight where our Interpreting team base is, placing signage above the Interpreting Offices in main reception and on our Electronic Interpreters (DORA System).

Mark Hillier, our Senior Patient Experience Manager said: “Our mapping leaflets have been kindly designed by our Clinical Design team so that we can reduce disorientation for new patients and families – feeling lost at the hospital is never an experience we want our patients to feel. Our map can support those who speak different languages to first find our interpreting services to support their journey, as well as helping English-speaking visitors to navigate the hospital easily.”

Before you visit us, you can even access our downloadable navigation leaflet so that you can plan your journey before you get here. We hope that this reduces anxiety for our patients and visitors when you come to visit us. Wayfinding is an important part of what helps us to keep our wards and hospitals flowing calmly before you reach your appointment.
