These shortlistings recognise the success of the Trust’s Fresh Start to recruitment programme, launched in 2023.

The programme changed every aspect of recruitment at BWC including implementing TRAC, and improving our approvals, time to hire and induction of new starters.

It has reduced vacancies by 80% including reducing nurse and midwifery vacancies by half.

The programme also co-produced the ‘ This is Your Place ’ recruitment brand and careers website.

Our Nursing and Midwifery colleagues were asked a series of before and after questions about our recruitment and their positive opinions increased by an average of 37% after this programmes was in place.

This included quality/quantity of hires, overall retention levels, overall resourcing levels and trust morale, outstanding outcomes which led to the Trust being shortlisted for the Innovation in Recruitment category.

The Excellence in Public Service HR Award specifically recognises people management programmes that have had a positive and measurable impact on organisations that deliver public services.

The award ceremony takes place in November, good luck to everyone involved.
