Proudly celebrating the work of our AHPs
There are 14 roles that make up AHPs, including physiotherapists, radiographers, occupational therapists and dieticians. They are across our Children’s Hospital, Women’s Hospital and Forward Thinking Birmingham (FTB) mental health sites that work holistically across wards and offer the best possible treatment and support for the patients and families that we look after.
Surriaya Hassan, Chief AHP said: “ There's never been a better time to be an AHP there is a significant amount of national drivers to showcase the excellent work that AHPs can do, how they can work through a wider scope of practice and really demonstrate their capability and capacity to contribute to excellent patient pathways.”
Grace Payton, Trainee Speech and Language Therapist said:
“I really enjoy having positive interactions with our children and families.
“The children, and their tenacity, have such a positive impact on me. It really is amazing to be able to help and support them with both speech and aphasia (swallowing).
I love seeing them do well and follow through on their journey to reaching their goals and key milestones.”
Amy Fitter, Homeless 18-25 Specialist Occupational Therapist in Forward Thinking Birmingham said: “It is brilliant to see the young people thrive. Just recently, I had one of my young people ask for a reference as they had successfully secured a job in the social care sector.”
Amberley Prince, Occupational Therapist in the Burns Unit at the Children’s Hospital said: “I believe AHP's make an important contribution to research and innovation as well as direct patient care.”
