Mental Health colleagues celebrating Long Service AwardsOur loyal and long-serving Mental Health colleagues had their careers celebrated at our wonderful Long Service event.

On 1 April, they gathered at the stunning Birmingham Council House to receive certificates and pin badges for serving the NHS for 10, 20, 25, 30 and 40 years.

They were joined by Chief Executive, Matt Boazman, Executive Director for Communications and Engagement, Ruth Wilkin and Director of Corporate Affairs, Steve Allen, to say thank you to colleagues for their hard work and dedication to caring for service users and families.

Matt Boazman said: “Today we will be recognising and thanking colleagues for your many years of dedication and commitment to the NHS that includes those within Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, and of course, most importantly to the children, women, young people and families that we care for.

"Wherever you are on your journey with the NHS and with BWC, we are all here to recognise and thank you for your dedication to a career of service and your commitment to the children, young people and families across Birmingham, the Midlands and further afield, that your role supports.”

It was a particularly special day for Mike Jenkins, who was celebrating 40 years in the NHS. Mike started in the NHS aged 18 because he felt he could contribute to others' health and enjoyed the act of caring. He taught on the CAMHS pathway for 20 years at BCU and was celebrated by the Trust in 2018, winning the BCH Star award for 'Education Hero' for his work with nursing students. Of his 40 years’ service within the NHS, Mike completed nearly 28 years in CAMHS/FTB with BWC and he really values the Trust’s focus on children and adolescents.
