The nomination said: “I would like to nominate my manager, Claire, for the DAISY Award for the incredible support and compassion she has shown me during one of the most difficult times in my life.

“Claire has not only been a manager but a true source of strength, guidance and kindness.

“Her compassion goes beyond words. She has been there for me, not just as a manager, Claire nominated for compassion and support but as someone who truly cared for my wellbeing, especially as an international nurse who left loved ones behind.

I wish I could give her more than a thousand awards for her compassion, but through this nomination, I hope she will be recognised for the extraordinary person and leader she is.

“My words are not enough to describe my gratitude, but I hope this nomination shows how much you are appreciated.”

Claire was surprised and presented with the award by Jessica Atoklo, Head of Midwifery and Associate Director of Nursing and Daljit Athwal, Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer, when she received a certificate and ‘Healer’s Touch’ statue, a DAISY pin and cinnamon rolls for her colleagues.

She said: “It means so much to receive this award and I am completely overwhelmed.

“To have such beautiful, kind words written by a colleague who has faced challenges and come through the other side means so much.

“I am very proud of her and to be recognised with a DAISY is an amazing achievement.”
