Dog days in the Clinical Research Facility
Patients and staff on our Clinical Research Facility (CRF) were given a doggy treat to lift spirits when Malti-poo Cookie came to visit.
Alison brought along her friendly golden coloured pooch to the ward which gave patients a special opportunity to interact with the pooch.
The visit was organised by CRF Administration Assistant, Lindsey Lees, who also ran a 'Guess the Doggy and Their Owner' competition for patients to enjoy, complete with a prize for the winner.
Caren Mann, CRF Senior Management Support Officer, said: “Throughout the visit, Cookie brought plenty of smiles, cuddles and laughter to patients, families and to the team. Patients were delighted to spend time with Cookie, enjoying the opportunity to interact with such a gentle and reassuring companion.
“The impact of the visit was evident in the feedback received from patients and families. One family shared that they had sadly lost their own dog in June and that having the opportunity to spend time with Cookie was particularly meaningful.
"Another patient described Cookie as a ‘true angel", while families commented on how much joy the visit brought and how much they were looking forward to another visit in the future.
“The day was a wonderful success, creating moments of comfort, happiness for patients and their families. It was significant impact on patient experience, bringing joy and making a real difference.
“A huge thank you to Lindsey, Alison and of course Cookie, for helping to make the day so special.”
