Nurse Eleanor recognised for always being by the side of patients and colleagues

A huge congratulations to the latest winner of the coveted DAISY award, Eleanor Willey, Sister on our Intensive Care Unit
A colleague nominated Eleanor for not only going above and beyond to provide compassionate care for patients but for always supporting and being by the side of her colleagues.
Her colleague shared: " Not only is she compassionate and kind to parents and patients but she is extremely supportive and always shows up for staff in what can sometimes be an overwhelming and busy environment.
"Eleanor consistently shows compassion to all our patients, holding their hands, talking to them and offering support to families and staff. She cares for everyone whose path she crosses, offering a friendly face, a supportive conversation, and a box of tissues if needed.
"Her communication is also exceptional. Colleagues, patients and families never feel alone and she demonstrates empathy in every conversation she has.
“Eleanor has made a massive impact. When she is on shift, myself and others know everyone will be supported and patients will receive the best care possible .”
Eleanor got a surprise presentation on her unit from Daljit Athwal, Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer and Heather Petts, Associate Director of Nursing (Medicine). She also received a certificate and ‘ Healer’s Touch’ statue, a DAISY pin and cinnamon rolls for her colleagues.
Congratulations Eleanor . You can nominate a nurse or a midwife for a DAISY award on our website now - nominations are always open.
