One of the highlights of the year for us is always the British Transplant Games and our BCH superstars will once again be representing our Children’s Hospital at next year's event in Nottingham.

The event, which has been running for more than 40 years, is a huge celebration of the power of organ donation with all participants - expected to total more than 1,000 this year - having received the ‘Gift of Life’.

People from across the country will gather in the East Midlands and take part in sports, including athletics, tennis, swimming and many more during the four days of competition between Thursday 1 and Sunday 4 August.

Our fantastic team, which is supported by our charity, will be bidding for more medals after bringing home a host of titles, including the coveted ‘Best Children’s Team’ title for the 25th games running, at the 2023 event in Coventry

All of our more than 40 superstars, who have all undergone life-saving transplant operations at our hospital, brought back a massive 80 medals, including 36 golds last summer.

Sara Clarke, Transplant Games Team Manager and Lead Neonatal Dietitian said: “We’re all looking forward to bringing the British Transplant Games to Nottingham in 2024.

“After an incredible medal haul in Coventry, Team BCH is gearing up for the event, which showcases the power of organ donation. Look out for our fantastic athletes who will be working hard to raise awareness of the ‘Gift of Life’ in the build-up to the event this summer.”

We’re on the lookout for more superstars to join our championship-winning Team BCH. So, if your child has had a transplant at our hospital, get involved. There are plenty of sports on offer and it is a fantastic opportunity to meet friends with similar experiences.
