Good luck to our Transplant Games superstars as they head to Sheffield
Our 36-strong Team BCH superstars are heading to Sheffield for this year's instalment of the British Transplant Games.
The annual event, which has been a firm fixture in our calendar for many years, celebrates the power of organ donation during four days of action that starts on Thursday (6 August).
Everyone at our Trust is wishing our fantastic team 'good luck' before they head to Yorkshire with loved ones and our volunteer management team.
We're massively grateful to our Charity, which is once again generously supporting our superstars, all of whom have had lifesaving transplant procedures at our specialist hospital.
They will join around 1,000 competitors of all ages in the Steel City, competing in more than 20 events, including track and field, racquet sports, swimming, cycling and more.
Children, families and our team of volunteers will also take part in the Donor Run on Saturday (8 August). A special event to raise awareness and say ‘thank you’ to live donors and donor families who have given others the Gift of Life.
Jemma Mears, Principal Physiotherapist and our Team Manager, will be supporting for her 21st games this year. She said: “This special event always seems to come around so quickly. It’s difficult to believe it’s been 12 months since our superstars performed so brilliantly at the 2025 edition in Oxford.
“We’re all really looking forward to it. It’s an amazingly busy few days but it really is magical. The atmosphere is another level. It’s almost impossible to explain to someone who hasn’t been fortunate to attend before.
“It’s just so humbling to be part of something like this. You feel so privileged.
“We can’t wait to get started. Go Team BCH.”
