Have your say on our local health and care priorities

We’re now working as part of an Integrated Care Partnership that combines all the local NHS organisations, general practice, pharmacists, dentists, opticians, voluntary, faith and community sector and Healthwatch. Every part of England is now covered by an Integrated Care Partnership, with a responsibility to collaborate to improve care and reduce the differences in health outcomes between different groups. If you live, work or are cared for in Birmingham or Solihull, the decisions this partnership makes will affect you.
The Birmingham and Solihull Integrated Care Partnership is currently asking local people how their priorities and plans will affect them in the coming years. It wants to reduce the ten-year gap in life expectancy between the least and most deprived parts of our city, reduce the infant mortality rate, and improve survival and quality of life for those with heart disease, lung disease and cancer.
The overall vision for the partnership is that the people of Birmingham and Solihull live longer, healthier and happier lives. The six objectives they have set to achieve this are;
- Reduce inequalities
- Deliver integration for people
- Protect people from harm
- Be there across the life-course
- Build a thriving, inclusive workforce
- Address the wider determinants of health
The ICP wants this to be an approach that is owned by local people, and delivered in local places, underpinned by shared values and informed by policy. The strategy also includes five- and ten-year measures, on a range of issues from healthy start vouchers, immunisations, fuel poverty, continuity of care and life expectancy.
They want to hear from a wide range of local people and health and care workers to understand what’s important to you, and what barriers you face to living a healthier, happier life. The ICP is also interested to hear how you think you can help make a difference.
