Industrial action: 11 April until 15 April
Postgraduate doctors – sometimes known as junior doctors – are taking industrial action across the UK from Tuesday (11 April) until the morning of Saturday (15 April) as part of their dispute over pay with the Government.
This will mean that some of our services, such as outpatient clinics and some procedures like surgery, will be affected during this time and in the days before and after the industrial action.
We will be contacting anyone whose care will be affected. If you do not hear from us, please attend your appointment as planned.
Our teams across our Children’s and Women’s hospitals, as well as our Mental Health Services, have worked hard to make sure that our emergency and urgent services remain there for our women, children and young people and are safe.
The industrial action does mean that our Emergency Department, while safe, will have reduced staff numbers and will mean longer waits for non-emergency or urgent patients.
We will continue to review and update our plans and provide updates when available.
Pay levels are a matter between national trade unions and the Government and we hope that a way forward can be found soon. BWC values and recognises the importance of good pay and is grateful every day for the hard work of all our colleagues.
