We’re excited to be revealing a special ‘Moments with our Midwives’ series this International Day of the Midwife 2022, sharing some excellent insights from a range of our midwifery colleagues for aspiring midwives and those interested in what it takes to qualify.

Our series covers some of the qualities you need to become a midwife as well as the unexplored areas within midwifery such as fetal monitoring and intrapartum care. Our midwives also share some of the more magical moments within midwifery, sharing their 40th delivery stories, how they came to qualify, and the camaraderie and friendships made during their time at our Women’s Hospital.

Jane SharpDelving deeper into the midwifery profession and maternity services, we also explore five historical figures who have gone onto inspire a new generation of midwives throughout the ages. We'll be discussing significant characters such as Ina May Gaskin, Miss Margaret, Jane Sharp, Mary Cronk and Stanisława Leszczynska across our Instagram stories channel.

To conclude our celebrations, we spoke with Marion Harris, our Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer, who offers her thanks to our ambitious, brave and compassionate midwives.

We’d like to take a moment to say a special thank you to our midwifery colleagues this year, for supporting all of our mums-to-be and continuing to inspire the new generation of midwives.
