Join the Team BCH superstars at British Transplant Games 2023

BTG Team BCH Best Children's Team The countdown is on to one of the highlights in our calendar – the British Transplant Games, which this year is taking place just a few miles down the road in Coventry.

We’re hoping to have a bumper team at the 2023 event, which will proudly celebrate the amazing power of organ donation between 27 and 30 July.

If your child has undergone a transplant procedure at our Children’s Hospital and is aged under 18 then they are eligible to take part and join our fantastic superstars and their families who, this year, will be looking to bring home the ‘Best Children’s Team’ title for the 25th games running.

Winning is obviously always nice but this special event is so much more than that. It showcases the power of organ donation; allowing recipients and their families, who share the same experiences and challenges, to come together. It also offers the opportunity to celebrate and remember the many donors who have given others the most precious’ Gift of Life’.

There are many events to take part in, such as track and field, swimming, tennis, badminton, cycling and many more.

Sara Clarke, our Team Manager who gives her time alongside our other fab volunteers from our hospital to make sure the games run smoothly for the children and families involved, said: “We want to welcome more superstars into our games family for this year’s event.

“The excitement is building, preparations are underway and we’d love to send our biggest team ever to Coventry in July.

“It’s difficult to explain just how special the few days are – it’s a highlight of my year and I know it is for our children, young people and families. The atmosphere is so positive and, because so many people have the same experiences, lifelong friendships are made.”
