New Peer Support Worker opportunities in our Mental Health Community teams and Specialist Eating Disorder Service

Advert for new peer support worker roles A fantastic opportunity has arisen to work as a Peer Support worker/ Parent Peer Support Worker in our friendly and creative team in our Specialist Eating Disorder Service (SEDS) and Mental Health Community teams, Forward Thinking Birmingham. 

The roles are part of the newly developing Peer Support teams, working with service users, age 0-25, including parents, to support personal and family recovery goals. You will be involved in developing our Recovery Focused group and individual activity programme, working alongside Specialist Mental Health Practitioners and the Psychological Therapist within the Multidisciplinary team. 

 

What are we looking for?

We are looking for individuals who are willing to positively share their personal experiences with others to support service users in their journey of recovery. As such, you will ideally have your own personal lived experience of mental health problems and have accessed secondary mental health services and/or Eating Disorder Treatment.  

You will need to be a motivated and flexible team worker with effective communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with patients, families, the MDT and other outside professionals and organisations.

You will be fully supported in your personal and professional development via regular 1:1 supervision and specialist training by ImROC, our training provider, who deliver online peer support training based on the national competency framework for peer support.

ImROC Training and 20-30 hour placements are unpaid. However, upon completion of the training programme, a number of paid roles will be advertised, and you will be encouraged to apply.

Our teams are  committed to collaborative work, and you will be joining a friendly, creative and supportive multidisciplinary team.
