NHS Staff Survey results released

The national NHS Staff Survey results, which give an indication of how staff feel about life at our Trust, have been released today (Wednesday).

Thousands filled in the survey back in the Autumn, which gave staff an opportunity to share what is working well and where our Trust can make improvements to ensure that BWC is the very best place to work and be cared for.

While there are plenty of positives which have come out from this year’s survey, specifically around the areas of inclusion and diversity, flexible working and appraisals, many of the areas which need more work are in line with the current trends in the NHS. These address areas such as burnout, increasing workloads, morale and patient safety.

Raffaela Goodby, our Chief People Officer, said: “The last couple of years have been incredibly tough at BWC and right across the NHS in general and I want to thank colleagues for taking the time to tell us how they feel through the annual staff survey.

“The hard work that everyone has put in to dealing with COVID-19 and putting our women, babies, children and their families first certainly hasn’t gone unnoticed.

"The results of the survey reflect just how difficult it has been for staff and, while we want to celebrate our successes and where we have improved, we need to make sure we address those areas where we need to improve head on, with input, support and conversations with staff across our organisation.”

A period of consultation and engagement will now take place across all areas of our Trust to ensure that plans and solutions are put in place, with the input of colleagues, to ensure that concerns are acted upon.

Raffaela Goodby added: “We don’t want this to just be the end of this now. Over the next couple of months we want to work with all of our colleagues to listen to their thoughts and create solutions, so that we can continue to improve life at BWC.”
