Plans to redevelop parts of Birmingham Children’s Hospital have been approved

They include the creation of a new three storey elective care hub on the site, funded by the national COVID-19 recovery programme, that will be the home for a new state-of-the art intraoperative MRI (iMRI) machine, providing seamless patient care during surgery and reduce the need for some children to travel to other parts of the UK for treatment.

Dr Qasim Malik, Postgraduate Doctor at Birmingham Children's Hospital, has been recognised as Junior Trainee Doctor of the Year in this year's National Paediatric Awards For Training Achievements (PAFTA) Awards.

12-year-old Dexter and mum Kimberly from Solihull give honest review of virtual reality at our Children’s Hospital

Kimberly Wiggins, aged 47, from Solihull and her son Dexter, aged 12, were invited to test our new virtual reality headsets funded by our Children’s Hospital Charity. Virtual reality is currently used by our specialist Play and Youth Service to support patients over the age of seven years old as a distraction technique during minor medical procedures and as an alternative for general anaesthesia.
