We are a small team situated on the ground floor of the Children’s Hospital and are part of the Vital Services team. We have a dual purpose: a responsibility to keep all linen clean and to prevent dirty linen from contaminating patients, staff and the environment. Our team has a vast amount of experience ranging from three months to 22 years working for the Trust.

Dr Helen Goodyear, who works in our Dermatology team, has been awarded a prestigious Honorary Fellowship by the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH).

Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust has become the first in the NHS to offer a package of support for staff who experience baby loss, which includes periods of paid leave. Additional support has also been announced for those families who have a premature birth.

A heart expert at our Birmingham Children’s Hospital has today, Tuesday 29 June, led the launch of the UK’s first national study into identifying research priorities for patients diagnosed with congenital heart disease, thanks to high street fashion entrepreneur George Davies.

Children and young people living with cancer from across the West Midlands, Oxfordshire and parts of Southern England will now benefit from improved genetic testing, thanks to a seven-figure donation to Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity from Children with Cancer UK, in partnership with Kwik-Fit.

Over the past year, our dedicated Home birth team has continued to care for more than 150 families whose choice is to give birth in their own familiar surroundings. 

This month marks Pride month, a month dedicated to celebrating the LGBTQ+ community and reflecting upon the progress made towards equality.  

Ben Francis has become Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospital Charity’s first-ever Patron.
