Research led by our Trust and the University of Birmingham has offered a new insight into the biological mechanisms of the long-term positive health effects of breastfeeding in preventing disorders of the immune system in later life.

A father and daughter from Birmingham born with the same rare condition born 35 years apart have both undergone life-saving surgery at our Children’s Hospital. Surgical teams in the 80s and today used differing but pioneering techniques that show the incredible progress that continues to be made within the NHS.

We were recently delighted to have been awarded £4.3million from Government to continue the renovation of our Parkview Clinic to allow all of our inpatient wards to have full single-room accommodation.

Our Big Build project, where we hope to build new hospitals on both our Edgbaston and city centre sites, kicked off in 2020 and we are now looking for your ideas on how our inpatient wards should be laid out in our planned Women’s Hospital and Children’s Hospital buildings.

Our Fertility service, which has its home at our Women’s Hospital, continues to operate, care for and support our women, men and families. None of our services have been temporarily paused or changed as was necessary during the first period of national ‘lockdown’ in March 2020.
