Trust appoints substantive Chief Medical Officer

Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust has appointed Dr Satish Rao to the substantive Chief Medical Officer role.

 Dr Satish Rao, substantive Chief Medical Officer Dr Rao has been interim Chief Medical Officer since the end of January 2024. He is a Consultant Respiratory Paediatrician who joined Birmingham Children’s Hospital in 2006, specialising in looking after children with complex respiratory problems from the Trust’s Regional Centre as well as supporting national and international services.
He has been leading the children’s and young person’s transformation programme in the Birmingham and Solihull integrated care system.

Speaking about the appointment, CEO Matthew Boazman said: “I am delighted that Satish has been successful through the external recruitment process.
"Satish has a real passion for reducing health inequalities, supporting our diverse communities and leading our organisation to become an ambitious, inclusive place where all can thrive. I am looking forward to continuing to work alongside him.”
