“We feel privileged that our daughter came under their care” – our recent Star of the Month winner is revealed
Dr Ruchi Nadar and the Metabolic Bone team at our Children’s Hospital have taken home the ABC (ambitious, brave, compassionate) Star of the Month prize following a moving nomination from a family.
Praising the team for the compassionate care they provided to their daughter, the family told how the care team had made a "profound difference" to them, feeling privileged to have been under their care.
In their nomination, they said: “Every member of the team we encountered displayed kindness, patience and professionalism. They consistently treated our daughter and our family with warmth and dignity and their support and reassurance during what has been a difficult time have been greatly appreciated.
“It is evident that Dr Nadar has fostered a culture of excellence and compassion within her team, and they are a credit to Birmingham Children’s Hospital and the NHS.“In modern healthcare, where staff are working under immense pressure, individuals and teams such as these embody the very best of the NHS. Their commitment to excellence, their reassuring manner and the confidence they inspire in patients and families deserve special recognition.”
Other finalists for the accolade included Beth Young, Senior Principal Clinical Scientist, and Tracey Hough, Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Orderly, two inspiring members of staff at our Trust.
Beth was nominated by her colleague for embodying our Trust values, ambition, bravery and compassion through her work in the Prenatal Scientific Team in the West Midlands Regional Genetics Laboratory.
Her nominator shared: “Beth constantly goes above and beyond showing compassion for our patients.
“She is always empathetic and compassionate and will go above and beyond to ensure patients have access to appropriate testing in a timely manner.”
Tracey was also nominated by a colleague for her hard work and dedication supporting patients, families and staff on our PICU.
Her nominator said: “I had shadowed Tracey as she provided on-the-job training of her role. Not only did she provide fantastic training but a welcoming and supportive environment.
“She showed great compassion towards patients and families and made an effort to chat and support them as well as step in to help colleagues when needed. She is a caring, professional and knowledgeable person and it only took me a few hours to feel she truly embodied the values of the Trust.”
Congratulations to our brilliant runners-up and winners.
