Well done to amazing Amy, DAISY Award winner

Amy with colleagues receiving her DAISY awardCongratulations to Amy Hands, Clinical Nurse Specialist on our Oncology Ward, who is another of our deserving DAISY Award winners.

A mum took the time to put in a heartfelt nomination recognising the kindness and compassion Amy offered to her daughter and family during a difficult time.

She was described as “an incredible source of support” throughout her child’s cancer treatment, especially in helping me meet her nutritional goals.

Amy took the time to truly listen to mum’s concerns and because of her reassurance and advocacy, she continued to breastfeed, a decision that has become a deeply meaningful part of her daughter's journey and wellbeing.

She later “went above and beyond” by researching a key feeding topic.

Mum said: “Amy has consistently been an outstanding advocate for our family. She has lifted my confidence and morale countless times during what has been the most difficult period of our lives. Her compassion, professionalism and dedication truly embody the spirit of the Daisy Award.”

Congratulations Amy.
