Non-Gynaecological Cytology - Preparation for FRCPath Part 2 Exam Courses
Course description
This is a comprehensive cytology course designed to prepare trainees for the Non-Gynaecological FRCPath Part 2 Examination.
Places are limited on these courses and they become fully booked very quickly - please book early.
Aims of the Course:
- To provide an overview of the salient aspects of diagnostic non-gynaecological cytopathology
- To present topic-based lectures on the cytopathology of individual systems
- Lecturers with considerable expertise to lead teaching using lectures, workshops, multiheader microscopy
- To facilitate slide review of selected cases followed by discussion
- To provide a mock Non-Gynae Cytopathology FRCPath Part 2 exam with detailed feedback and an opportunity to discuss ‘exam’ cases with the tutor.

- 3-6 February 2025 - FULLY BOOKED - Virtual interactive teaching via Teams using scanned slides.
- September 2025 (dates to be confirmed) - Onsite face to face teaching using glass slides. Scanned slides for personal revision will be made available after the course. Microscopes provided.

Histopathology - Preparation for FRCPath Part 2 Exam Courses
Course description
The Birmingham Histopathology Course is a comprehensive course lasting two working weeks and provides an overview of systemic histopathology. The course provides one week of virtual teaching followed by one week of face to face teaching onsite here in Birmingham. Participants are required to attend the full course (virtual and onsite sessions). There are topic-based lectures and multiheader microscopy sessions or live virtual discussions on the pathology of individual systems. There are also slide seminars in general pathology.
There is a mock exam that gives a flavour of the short surgical, long case, frozen section, macro and OSPE sections of the FRCPath Part 2 examination followed by detailed feedback and an opportunity to discuss the “exam” cases with the tutor.

Autopsy Pathology for Stage C/D Trainees in Histopathology & Consultant Pathologists Practising Autopsies
Course description
This is a two-day course addressing fundamentals of the autopsy, including external examination, dissection techniques, post-mortem toxicology and suspicious deaths. Case scenarios will be discussed. The course is aimed at Stage C/D trainees in Histopathology, as well as Consultant Pathologists practising autopsies.

Basic Cytopathology, Histopathology & Colposcopy Course (in conjunction with BSCCP)
Course description
This course is designed to provide colposcopists with an opportunity to have hands-on experience in aspects of cellular pathology which have an impact on the practice of colposcopy. There are sessions with a multiheader microscope where you can look at cervical samples and cervical biopsies. There will also be a discussion of MDT type cases and a virtual tour around the histology and cytology laboratories. Attendance at these sessions can be counted towards logbook requirements.
