Martina Ponsonby
Governor
Birmingham Children’s Hospital became a significant part of Martina's life in 1998 after her son was born with congenital heart disease. She knows all too well what it’s like to hold onto her child's hand in a hospital bed through long nights. The care her son received was exemplary, and Martina and her family will be forever grateful. This experience led her to become a volunteer Trustee and Vice Chair for over 20 years of a cardiac charity offering support to heart patients and families at the Hospital.
Martina's personal interests include Cardiac Research, Mental Health, and Transition services for young people, all key areas that need ongoing support.
With a passion for dance, Martina started her own academy in 1994, teaching children and adults. She is also a Director and Choreographer of a theatre company. Additionally, she has a business background in publishing and event organisations.
As a BWC Governor, Martina feels privileged to be part of the Ambitious, Brave, and Compassionate journey, helping to build upon existing care and relationships.
