Meet Fin Terry, Senior Biomedical Scientist

Scientist in laboratory Explain what your job entails?

Coordinating the biological sample collection, processing, storage and shipping for research and development in the Trust.

Why did you choose your career?

Having always been interested in science at school I studied a four year Biomedical Science degree at university. This involved a work placement year which I completed here at BCH almost 22 years ago now, from this experience I knew I wanted to be a Biomedical Scientist.

What do you love about your job?

One of the things I love most about my role in research is working with all the various teams from every speciality helping to find new advanced treatments which are more targeted and better tolerated, improving the prognosis and quality of life for our women and children.

Let us know something that a lot of people don’t know about your job?

People don’t always appreciate the importance of research samples and understand that the experimental treatments we are helping to investigate today with some of our patients could become the standard of care we provide for all our patients in the future.
