More than 20,000 of our patients, family members and carers are accessing health records online after signing up for our innovative healthcare app.

MyChart BWC (Birmingham Women’s and Children’s), which launched in May last year, offers many benefits for patients and parents, including access to appointments, test results and video visits.

Dr Ian Wacogne, Paediatric Consultant and Chief Clinical Information Officer, said: “MyChart is the next step in a true partnership between doctors and patients - or parents of children being cared for at our Trust.

“We live in a digital world and we want our community to be able to interact with us smoothly and quickly online without long phone queues.”

Mark Hillier, Patient Experience Manager, said: “We are delighted that MyChart has proved so popular. This is just the beginning and more features are on the way to improve the way we deliver healthcare.”

MyChart was introduced as part of our Epic electronic patient record system and gives patients quick and easy access to their health information. They can manage appointments, attend video visits and communicate with their healthcare team.

Mark added: “We are developing MyChart to help further reduce waiting times, improve discharge, provide better information and really put the patient and their parents or guardians in control of their healthcare.”

This year, the MyChart team plans to roll out many exciting features, including the ability to book an earlier appointment if someone else cancels. They are also further improving how MyChart works with the NHS app.

Through MyChart BWC, you can also keep your medical information up to date and share your health record with other medical professionals.

Parents or carers for someone being treated at one of our hospitals, can help manage their care on MyChart using proxy access. This means they'll have their own login and will be able to use this to access the healthcare of the people they’re responsible for, under our care.

To find out how to download the app, visit our dedicated webpage.  You’ll find guides on using MyChart and contact details for the team.
