#iwill Youth Volunteering

Our youth volunteering programmes have given hundreds of young people the chance to make a real difference to the lives of other people in their communities, make new friends, enhance their existing skills and learn about the huge variety of NHS careers.

Since April 2018, Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust has been generously supported by the #iwill Fund to develop meaningful volunteering experiences for 10-25s and to be one of its regional beacon sites. The Trust’s own Charities have also provided significant financial support for youth volunteering.

During that time, we pioneered an award-winning project volunteering programme for 10-16s (‘Junior Volunteering’) and a varied and supportive programme for individual volunteers aged 16-25 (‘Young Adult Volunteering’).

As we approach the end of our funded period in March 2020, we are working to permanently integrate the benefits of both of these programmes into our Volunteer Service and other areas of the Trust, and to share as widely as possible our learning with regards to engaging young volunteers.
