National Healthcare Estates and Facilities Day is back for a second year

National Healthcare Estates and Facilities Day 2023 Logo Following the success of last year’s launch event, National Healthcare Estates and Facilities Day is back today (21 June) for 2023 and will once again showcase and recognise the essential work done by all estates and facilities professions in the delivery of health and social care to people across the UK.

Nationally, estates and facilities services are estimated to make up about eight per cent of the NHS workforce, that’s around 250,000 people working in roles from porters to cleaners, reception staff to caterers, project teams to security and more. Together they keep healthcare buildings operational, day-in day-out, providing the very best service for colleagues, patients and visitors 24/7, 365 days-a-year.

To highlight some of the roles that colleagues in our Vital Services perform each day, we spoke with members of the Facilities Team at our Children’s Hospital to get an insight into their work.
