We understand how important it is for parents with babies or children in hospital that there is somewhere suitable to stay that is convenient and comfortable, especially for those who have travelled long distances.
For families at our Children's Hospital, we have links with several local hotels and accommodation providers.
We also provide our accommodation, both within the hospital and in the adjacent Ronald McDonald House, which may be available if your child is going to be in hospital for more than three days, or there are special circumstances. Please note spaces are limited, so these options are subject to availability.

Accommodation within the Children's Hospital
The parents' accommodation, which is free of charge, has nine twin rooms and four single rooms. Rooms are usually available for parents and carers whose children are very poorly or if there are particular considerations, such as if you're disabled or have travelled a long distance.
As well as bedrooms, there are bathrooms and a kitchen area where you can make snacks and drinks.
We think it's important to look after the welfare of parents so you can look after your children. Parents need to rest too, so our parents' accommodation helps by providing a home-from-home environment where you can relax, watch TV and make a snack and a drink.
Unfortunately, it's not possible to reserve a room ahead of your stay or to be guaranteed a room. If you would like to stay, please tell your nurse on the ward when you first arrive. He or she will contact the relevant accommodation. If there isn't a room immediately available, your name will be put on a waiting list and you'll be informed when a room becomes vacant.
Ronald McDonald House
Ronald McDonald House UK help families by providing free accommodation at 14 specialist children’s hospitals in the UK, so families are just minutes from their child’s hospital wards.
Our House in Birmingham has 65 bedrooms and supports families with children being treated at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
If you wish to use our facilities, please speak to a member of the medical team on your child's ward. All referrals for our services are made directly through the hospital.
Alongside providing overnight accommodation, we’re also delighted to welcome families to use our communal facilities through our Day Pass Programme, where they can come to the House and make use of our communal kitchen, lounge, and laundry.
Child patients can additionally visit the House through our Medical Pass Programme, giving them some much‑needed respite away from the ward. Please note that this must be approved by the medical professional responsible for your child’s care.
